From ambrose@fnal.gov Wed Nov 7 01:32:31 2001 Date: Wed, 07 Nov 2001 01:31:54 -0600 From: David Ambrose To: COT Group -- Adam , Alec , Aseet , Ashutosh Kotwal , Ayana , Bill Orejudos , Bill Robertson , Bob Wagner , Dave Ambrose , Eiko , Eric James , Evelyn , Greg Veramendi , Jay , JC Yun , Ken Schultz , Kevin Burkett , Kevin Pitts , Kirby , Marina Brozovic , Michael Lindgren , Morris , Nigel Lockyer , Paris , Peter Tamburello , Peter Wittich , pjw , Reinhard Eckmann , Rob Snihur , Robyn Madrak , Ron Moore , Ting , Tom Phillips , Young-Kee Subject: owl report Last night Peter and I were able to work on a few East-side problems (the ladder and bench were not installed on the West, so we didn't get to those problems): SL5-C LV short: --> We believe this was due to the BLR monitor cable plugged in backwards at the termination board (as compared with the direction of other cables on the endplate). We flipped it and it now looks OK. SL8-232 (B,366,15-14-2): Q = 32.1 (24.0+/-2.1) +8.1 SL8-233 (B,366,15-14-2): Q = 31.6 (24.0+/-2.1) +7.5 --> High QEN widths. At the ASDQ CV test points, it looked like the QEN value was floating. We initially measured the QEN coming off the ribbon as OK, and so swapped the ASDQ board (old #1216, new #1218). However, problem remained. Wiggled the ASDQ input ribbon until QEN came back, so is definitely the ribbon. It is currently OK, but should probably be replaced. Where are the spares? SL5-220 (C,518,17-13-2): 00 dead, 00 hot!, 00 warm, 07 null SL5-221 (C,518,17-13-2): 00 dead, 01 hot!, 01 warm, 08 null --> Null noise, high DTH, good widths. --> Pos calib is double-pulsed (from May). --> Looking at the calibs on the u-coax, pos is 600 mV instead of 700 mV like the negative. Can't see double-pulse as in May, but there is a different shape. Have temporarily switched 5-220 with 5-222 to make sure it's not the ASDQ termination. I'll swap them back tomorrow night before the final front-end checks. SL4-160 (C,418,16-07-2): 00 dead, 12 hot!, 00 warm, 00 null SL4-161 (C,418,16-07-2): 00 dead, 12 hot!, 00 warm, 00 null --> Double-pulse cells. --> Original double-pulse is now two negative pulses! There has been some u-coax work about a foot from the u-socket which might be reversed. This was probably done in January, to fix a broken calib line, and checked out OK then. We left this u-coax undone.
